Rachelle Owen, from Merseyside, was struck by a train at Hoylake station on Friday evening, with British Transport Police saying they are not treating the death as suspicious.
The 16-year-old’s mother, Kay Diamond, 44, was found dead in a flat in Liverpool at the end of February, with a post-mortem revealing she died from ‘blunt force trauma’ to the head.
A 52-year-old man known as Anthony Blye has been charged with Ms Diamond’s murder.
Since the incident on Friday, the devastated family of the mother and daughter have issued a statement, it reads:
‘Rachelle was a beautiful, vibrant, loved daughter, granddaughter, sister and niece, who attended Hilbre High School Humanities College.’
‘This is a double tragedy to our family following the recent death and funeral of her mum, Kay Diamond.’
On a tribute site set up for the victim, one friend wrote: ‘She just wanted to be with her mum.’
