Amanda ‘married’ her dog, Sheba, in a ceremony in Croatia before 200 witnesses.
The story of Amanda’s ‘marriage’ hit the headlines earlier this week.
She told The Metro: ‘Sheba had been in my life for years, making me laugh and comforting me when I was feeling low… I couldn’t think of anything more I’d need from a life partner.’
Amanda decided she wanted to marry the pampered pooch, and even proposed to her.
‘I got down on one knee and proposed,’ she said. ‘I could tell by her tail wagging that she said yes.’
Amanda described her and Sheba’s wedding in detail, from the dress to their first kiss.
‘I’d dreamed of a perfect wedding dress since I was small, I made it myself for the ceremony,’ Amanda said.
‘The day was wonderful, more fun than the marriage. I gave her a kiss to seal the deal and then everyone threw confetti. It was a wonderful moment.’
The happily wed woman doesn’t care if the marriage isn’t technically legal.
Amanda said: ‘I know the wedding to Sheba wasn’t real in the legal sense. But it was a nice way to mark what Sheba means to me... Sheba’s never unkind to me and she’s always happy.’
The wacky ‘bride’ even appeared on This Morning to talk about her 'wedding.'
Amanda told This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: ‘She was two weeks old and she was new to the world - but I fell in love with her… I knew that we were meant to be.’
Phillip, intrigued, asked her: ‘It's a big step to go from caring for your dog to marrying it - why did you get there?’
Amanda responded: ‘There are different kinds of love - my love for Sheba is very deep. We have a deep connection.’
