One of the runners was Jane Sutton - mother of the brave Stephen Sutton, who stole the nation’s heart as he battled cancer, eventually dying in May 2014. Completing the race in just over six hours, Jane beamed as she crossed the finish line and collected her medal.
She raised thousands for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Also running was arguably Britain’s greatest athlete - Paula Radcliffe - who holds the women’s world record for the marathon and has won it three times.
This was Paula’s last marathon that she’ll run competitively, after various injuries and age have started to hinder her speed.
Because of this, the race was an incredibly emotional occasion for the athlete, who couldn’t hold back tears as she ran the course for the last time.
‘I was thinking, ‘I’m so tired, I want it to finish, but at the same time I want it to last forever.’’ Paula told the media after the race.
Also running in this year’s race were Oliver Proudlock and Hugo Taylor from Made in Chelsea, sportsman James Cracknell, Formula 1 star Jensen Button, Supermodel Christy Turlington, DJ’s Chris Evans and Greg James, and Presenter Jenni Falconer.
