A month after the girls were taken from their school by Islamic extremists, multiple celebrities began uploading pictures of themselves holding up signs with the caption: “#BringBackOurGirls”

However, Katie has hit out that this approach, insisting that instead of holding up signs more needs to be done to actually rescue the girls.

Writing in her column for The Sun, Katie said: “Listen fools. You can hold up a sign with a hashtag until your arms drop off, but these girls are not coming back alive unless someone goes in and gets them.”

Picking out Michelle Obama and members of Parliament in particular, Katie insisted that, had the girls been from America, so much more would have already been done in an attempt to get them back.

She said: “If 276 high school girls had been kidnapped from the US, Obamageddon would have been unleashed. Instead, Mrs Obama has tried asking nicely.

“She held up a sign saying #BringBackOurGirls and made big puppy dog eyes at the camera. David Cameron wasn’t going to be outdone by Mrs Obama and got himself a sign with the same hashtag.

“Dave knows it is important to be seen to be doing something.”

Cara Delevingne is one of the celebrities who have joined 'the craze'

Katie hammered home the message that if something isn’t done soon, it could be too late. Referring to the leader of the kidnapping group Abubakar Shekau as Mad Dog Boko Bill, she said: “[He] has one thing left to take from them and he is holding a weapon.

“Those girls sat sobbing in a forest don’t need your peacocking on social media. Your job as politicians is to protect the Armed Forces budget so as to enable Our Boys to do what they do best.

“Our country and “our girls” need giants of men with daggers on their hearts to teach Mad Dog Boko Bill a lesson. Get ready to sweat, Boko Bill. Where you’re going, it’s going to be pretty darn hot.”
