Heart-wrenching video: Father sings lullaby to wife and baby who died during childbirth

The dying baby boy was given a heartbreaking serenade by his father, just hours after his mother passed away in childbirth

Before he was born, baby Lennon James Pico would often move to music and kick his mum Ashley's tummy whenever a catchy beat was played.

But, tragically, Ashley died hours after being rushed into hospital to give birth via an emergency C-section last Saturday.

So when tiny Lennon was born at 24 weeks, father Chris asked if he could bring his guitar into the NICU and play for Lennon.

He did this for several hours a day at his baby son's bedside, soothing little Lennon - but doctors and nurses became increasingly concerned over the infant's lack of movement and brain activity.

One day after filming this video, baby Lennon went to sleep in his daddy's arms.

He tragically never woke up.

The clip was filmed via a mobile phone and uploaded to YouTube yesterday, where it has since gone viral with 200,000 views.

underneath, it encourages viewers to visit a memorial website which has been set up to remember Ashley, a former nurse from Lorna Linda, California, who was 30 years old when she died.

Her family wrote: "Our dear Ashley’s life was tragically, devastatingly cut short this past weekend. Her dear baby flickered briefly for a few days after.
