A second black box has confirmed that pilot Andreas Lubitz deliberately crashed Germanwings flight 4U9525 into the French Alps.

Recordings and data from the black box show that Lubitz accelerated the plane’s speed after putting the plane into descend.

Investigators said in a statement: “A first reading shows that the pilot in the cockpit used the automatic pilot to put the airplane on a descent towards an altitude of 100 feet.

A memorial has been erected at the crash site

"Then several times the pilot modified the automatic pilot settings to increase the speed of the airplane as it descended.”

The first black box recording reported that the plane’s captain left the cockpit to use the toilet. Lubitz then locked him out the cockpit, with the captain then heard banging on the door in a desperate attempt to take control of the plane.

Distressingly, passengers can be heard screaming in the background as their fate becomes apparent.

A road is currently being built through the Alps to the crash site to help forensic investigators uncover the remains of all 150 passengers and crew onboard the aircraft.
