If you’re CRAZY excited about the Rugby World Cup kicking off tonight – we’ve found something fun to start off your pre match celebrations.

The Hakarena – a mash up of the tradition New Zealand haka and the Macarena – was created by England 2003 World Cup Winner Matt Dawson and it’s gone viral.

Along with clothing brand Jacamo, Matt dances alongside teammates from the Battersea Ironsides rugby club. And it is amazing!

Matt starts the classic haka before the other players some in and start working it up into the tradition 90s Macarena we’ve all done at midnight at family parties.

“The current world champions are in amazing form with awesome power, strength, depth and one secret weapon - the haka,” Matt says

“They are using it to intimidate us. They think they've got an advantage over us. They think they've won the game before a ball has even been kicked.

“But I'm telling you what, we've got our own secret weapon. Have a go at the hakarena, maybe we'll put the All Blacks off their rhythm.”

The haka has been seen as controversial – with the newest version that came out in 2005 featuring the gesture of a throat being split, a Maori sign meaning renewal. However, the haka is most treated with respect by both fans and opponents.

We’ll be doing the Hakarena from now on though.
