The traumatised girl, now aged 16, told police in Dallas, Texas, that she was sexually assaulted by a family member in August 2012.
She told police she was a virgin before she was raped and “did not tell anyone about the sexual assault because … she was embarrassed.”
When her family found out that she was expecting a baby, eight months into her pregnancy, they “became very nervous” that social services would get involved.
In a bid to induce abortion, they force-fed her birth control pills, morning-after pills, and cinnamon tablets.
When that didn’t work, one of them held the girl down while another bounced up and down on the girl’s stomach. They also kicked the girl repeatedly.
According to police reports, the attack lasted for six hours, with family members telling the girl - who was in extreme pain - to “shut up” and cry into a pillow.
The assault didn’t stop until the girl began vomiting and bleeding heavily.
She said the baby was stillborn about two hours later.
The relatives then tried to burn the baby’s body in a charcoal grill, but the remains were not destroyed.
Two days later, they paid another relative $25 to “take care of the rest of it”, and the remains were disposed of in a plastic bag at an unknown location.
Deputy Chief Gil Garza has confirmed that the teenager has now moved out to live with a friend.
She is being cared for by state Child Protective Services.
“We want to commend the victim for her bravery for coming forward to report this unbelievable crime,” he said.
