Reports suggest that Britain is on course for it’s hottest summer ever following the temperatures we were treated to at the weekend.

Temperatures reached 19C in some areas of the country, ‘exceptionally milder’ than we are used to seeing this time of year.

Amazingly, Britain was hotter than Greece and even Turkey at it’s hottest on Sunday, with 19.3C being recorded in St. James Park, London.

Because of the unexpected heat, experts are now predicting a summer heat wave, and are even saying that temperatures could exceed the hottest on record 38.5C in Kent in 2003.

The reason for the predicted summer scorcher is temperatures of water as far away as the Pacific Ocean are rising, resulting in an El Niro weather pattern.

Experts at Justus Liebig University in Germany have claimed that there is a 75 per cent chance of the hottest summer on British record.

Climatologist Tim Barnett told a UK newspaper: “The risk of an El Nino event in the second half of 2014 has increased, but it’s certainly not guaranteed at this point in time.”

While the summer temperatures are still only a prediction, the good news is that we can expect the beautiful weather from the weekend to stay around for at least a couple more days this week.
