A breast cancer survivor has blasted charities’ ‘silly’ campaigns to raise awareness with her own viral pictures

Mum Leeanne Curry has bravely shared pictures of her mastectomy scars in an attempt to raise awareness for breast cancer herself.

The 36-year-old was diagnosed with the disease in June 2012 and had to endure 16 rounds of chemotherapy as well as undergo a double mastectomy.

After seeing a recent campaign raising awareness for breast cancer (allegedly started by a porn scout) which encouraged women to hold a Coke can between their breasts before sharing images on social media, Leeanne decided to take action.

Rather than contribute to what she thought to be ‘silly’ campaigns, Leeanne shared images of her own mastectomy scars, writing alongside the snap: “Don’t get involved in these silly games just check your damn boobs."

She later told the Daily Record: “I have no qualms showing my scars to anyone – and now more people have seen them than I ever imagined.

“It’s not about cryptic statuses or Coke cans. I’m the reality and if I’ve helped a handful of the thousands of those shares, then I’ve done my job.

“It’s disgusting trying to make a game out of it. It’s not fluffy, it’s not pink. It’s a disease that can kill you and it’s not to be mocked.”
