Seven people were killed after three attackers drove their van into people on London Bridge and then went on a knife attack in Borough Market. Now, similar to the homeless hero and the incredible lady who led 50 children to safety following the attack in Manchester, another hero has been named for the most recent attack in London.
Gerard Vowles was present at the London Bridge terror attack and after watching the champions league football he discovered the horrific scene of people being stabbed.
Appearing on This Morning, he spoke about the awful ordeal he experienced where he saw the terrorists killing innocent people. He explained that at first, he didn't know if one of the victims was "mucking around" when they said they'd been stabbed.
He went on to say: "I realised when he moved his hand that all the blood started coming out of him.
"Everyone was screaming, the first thing I remember doing was running over to two community officers. I grabbed one of them and said 'a man has been stabbed. Quick, quick.'"
Shortly after he saw the terrorists attacking more people, he explained: "They were crazy. They had hatred in their eyes. Evil. They didn't look human. They just looked like they hated everyone."
Gerard explained how he bravely went on to distract the terrorist after they attempted to attack more people.
"They ran towards the market porter and that's when I shouted out 'terrorist, cowards,' and I started throwing chairs, bottles… I was scared but I just thought I can't leave people to die," he told the This Morning presenters.
The incredible hero then helped direct the police in the right direction after they were heading towards the first incident. The terrorists were wearing fake suicide bombs and Gerard realised the truth during the awful ordeal.
He went on to admit he's struggling following the attack after having "nightmares and flashbacks".
The three attackers died after the police shot them shortly after their attack.
