A little boy who was hit by a car just moments after he left a Christmas party with his parents on the weekend has helped save several lives through organ donation.

Fraser Bates, 7, was walking alongside his father Stuart Bates who was dressed as Father Christmas, when they were hit by a car.

Horrifically Fraser’s mum Anna-Louise was just metres behind them.

The crash, which happened in Cardiff, killed both Fraser and 43-year-old Stuart.

Anna Louise, who also has three-year-old Elizabeth, paid tribute to her ‘bears’ on Monday with this heartbreaking message:

“Stu was my ‘Mr Wonderful’. Fraser was ‘our Bear’ and his initials spelled out F.A.B. - he was indeed FAB by name and FAB by nature. Together with three-year-old Elizabeth we were a family of four but I know everybody we met over the years became part of our extended family.

“I know they will both be singing ‘Forever Young’ and playing football with Fraser’s hero, Duncan Edwards, in heaven.

Look after each other my ‘bears’.”

And brave Anna-Louise kept her well wishers updated on Facebook, revealing:

'Just wanted to let you all know that my amazing fab little boy has continued to amaze me and to be a complete superstar and to donate all his organs x'.

The transplant took place at Bristol Children's Hospital where Fraser was taken after the crash.

And Anna has continued to help others, despite her grief, revealing that her late husband’s Just Giving page- originally set up for a 2016 charity bike ride- has now raised almost £30,000.

Ms Bates said: 'My darling Stuart Bates was always so happy with his totaliser x he would be soooo grateful and we are all take great comfort in this for our bears !!!! Thank you xxxx but in the words of Stuey..... Keep giving xxxx'.

A spokesperson on behalf of Organ Donation Wales said: 'Organ donation transforms lives, but we must also recognise and give thanks to all those people who have donated their organs to save the lives of others and those brave families who have supported organ donation.

'All our thoughts and wishes go out to Anna and her family at this most difficult of times.'

Our thoughts are with Anna and her family.
