Chooky Wooky was blown into the backyard pool at 14-year-old owner Rayna Rapo's home in Sydney, Australia.

Fearing that her pet was dead, Rayna plucked her out of the water and tried to revive her.

Even when her mother Roberta suggested that Chooky Wooky couldn't be saved Rayna was determined not to give up.

Speaking about the moment Rayna found the chicken, Roberta revealed:

‘Chooky Wooky was floating in the water as stiff as a board. My daughter, Rayna, couldn’t stop crying.'

Knowing that Rayna, who is autistic, had a special bond with the bird, Mrs Rapo didn’t hesitate to try to save the hen.

‘She wouldn't let us stop trying to revive her.

I pumped her chest and blew air down her beak’, Roberta said.

Meanwhile, they also used a hairdryer and towels to try and warm Chooky Wooky up.

And, amazingly, just over three hours later Chooky came back from the dead.

Roberta says: ‘She hopped up, did a poo, I thought “you show off” and then she even laid an egg’.

Yey for Chooky Wooky!
