Staff at Silcock’s Amusement Arcade in Southport were shocked to find an abandoned newborn baby in their disabled toilets on 15th April.
The tiny tot was quickly rushed to hospital, where she received medical care.
Police began appealing for the mother to come forward, insisting that “she is not in any trouble” but that she needed to “make contact with the hospital as soon as possible or get in touch with a medical professional”.
They later confirmed that the baby’s mother had been found on 17th April, and that she was receiving medical treatment.
Superintendent Claire Richards said: “I would like to thank the local community, the online community and the media for their assistance in this matter.”
It has now been revealed that 30-year-old Nicola Glover - believed to be April’s mother - has been charged with attempted murder and child cruelty.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "She appeared at South Sefton Magistrates' (Court) this morning and has been remanded to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday May 6."
According to reports, the case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court for hearing because of the serious nature of the charges.
A preliminary hearing will take place on May 6. An application for bail was refused and no pleas were entered.
Meanwhile the newborn, nicknamed April by nurses at Ormskirk Hospital, has now been discharged and is in the care of Knowsley Local Authority.
Her survival was described as "miraculous".
