A teacher asked a class of students to write a list of things they don’t like about being the gender they are, and was surprised by one student’s insight on gender stereotypes.
The boy wrote:
'What I don't like about being a boy were (sic):

Not being able to be a mother

Not suppost to cry (sic)

Not allowed to be a cheerleader

Suppost to do all the work (sic)

Suppost to like vilence (sic)

Suppost to play football (sic)

Boys smell bad

Having a automatic bad reputation (sic)

Grow hair everywhere
The image of the list on a projector went viral this week, being shared in relation to International Men’s Day.

There has been a huge focus on women being pigeon-holed by unreasonable gender stereotypes, but this young boy’s list goes to show that both men and women struggle with the confinements of male and female stereotypes.
