The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with a ‘number of offences’ including sex offences - but it is not thought that these took place on school soil.

Despite this, outraged parents gathered at the gates of the Scottish school in Stirling, which also cannot be named, in an attempt to pull their children out of classes.

At around 1.30pm on Thursday, a group of around ten parents gathered at the school gates, clamouring to get their children out of the school.

One onlooker said on Facebook: ‘Something terrible has happened and all the mums and dads are taking their kids out of school as we speak. Hope all the kids ok.’

A report has been submitted to the Children’s Reporter - the government body that deals with offences involving children.
