"It's been five years today. Five years!" she sobbed, as she banged against the glass divider at the Tarrant County Jail in Texas.

"My son is dying every single day. Every single day he is suffering. He can't talk, he can't see… he's in pain every single day, every single day."

Heartbroken Loubna Khader couldn't hold back her tears as she came face-to-face with Stewart Richardson, who is still awaiting trial for the 2009 crash due to legal wrangling and appeals.

And, in the video report by WFAA-TV, it is clear to see that Loubna, whose little boy was left brain dead in the accident, will never forgive Richardson for what he did.

Loubna, her husband and her then two-year-old son Abdallah were driving back from a family gathering when Richardson - whose alcohol blood levels were allegedly three times the limit - crashed into the back of them, leaving the little boy trapped in his seat.

After the accident, doctors predicted that Abdallah had suffered damage to 80 per cent of his brain. He is now unable to see, speak or walk and needs around-the-clock care.

WFAA-TV were there to film Loubna's confrontation with the man who had left her son to suffer in constant pain every single day.

She held a photograph of Abdallah up to the glass, showing the happy boy before the crash, before swapping it for one of his bandaged face.

Richardson, however, did not react. He looked down as she yelled at him, repeatedly apologising for what he did - but she could not accept it.

"I'm supposed to go home now and my son is going to be okay, because you said you’re sorry?" she asked, before instructing him to be sent back to his cell.

"I don't think there will ever be peace with this man," she later said.

"I tried so many times to convince myself to forgive him, because it's not going to change anything. But the minute I saw him, I just saw the devil in him."

Richardson told the news channel that he thinks of Loubna and her family every day - and that he keeps a photograph of her son in his cell so that he never forgets what he has done.

"I made a mistake. And I want that family to know I’m trying to stand up for my mistake. To let them know that I love them, and I'm very sorry for what happened."

Richardson has seven prior arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol.
