Phillip Bryan Schofield was born in Oldham, Manchester on April 1st, 1962. Speaking about his childhood, Phil said: “I was very much a home bod. I absolutely loved my first day at infant school, but when my mum tried to take me the next day I said, ‘No, I’ve done that, it was fun, but I’m not going again.’ “She said, ‘You have to go every day’ and there was a monumental battle. At 19, Phillip left the BBC and emigrated with his family to New Zealand - who can blame him, eh? On arrival he was asked by TVNZ to front their new pop show SHAZAM!.
