She’s newly married, a working mum-of-two and studying for a nursing degree, but Chloe Goodman says despite her busy life, she still can’t help but feel broody! The Celebrity Big Brother star – mum to Isla, four, and Hudson, two, with footballer husband Grant Hall – is unable to carry another child due to health complications. But despite this, she says her family doesn’t feel complete and she’s considering using a surrogate next year.
Chloe, 31, explains, ‘I had Isla and Hudson really close together and it was a whirlwind. But Hudson is almost three now and I look back at them as babies and long for that time again. I was one of three growing up too and I love the idea of it.’
In 2019, Chloe had an operation to remove most of her cervix after doctors found high-grade abnormal cells during a routine smear. This meant that during both of her pregnancies she had to have cervical stitches to keep her babies safe in her uterus, but it has now left her with no outer cervix, meaning
a future pregnancy would not be viable.
Now Chloe and Grant are seriously considering using a surrogate to make their dreams for baby number three possible. And they don’t have to look far as Chloe’s sister, Amelia, 25, has offered to carry their baby.
‘Throughout all my complications, Amelia has always offered to be a surrogate for us, and I wouldn’t want
anyone else other than her to do it,’ Chloe beams, adding that Amelia would like children of her own but not for over five years.
‘We’re really close, she lives with me and we do everything together. Plus, Amelia goes to the gym all the time and eats healthily so I know our baby would be in the best hands with her.’
Chloe explains that an embryo using her egg and Grant’s sperm would be created in a lab and then artificially inseminated so that Amelia could carry the baby for them.
‘I would find it strange not being pregnant,’ Chloe admits. ‘I loved the feeling of my babies kicking inside me. But I wouldn’t miss being uncomfortable and all the operations I had to have. I’d probably keep the gender as a surprise third time around. We’ve got one of each so it really doesn’t matter to me.’
It’s a big decision, and something that Chloe and Grant plan to decide on for sure next year.
She says, ‘Grant is so supportive and is happy to do what I want to do. But we must be really careful I don’t get accidentally pregnant so once we decide we’re done [with having children], he will have a vasectomy. We will decide by next year because Hudson turns three in February, so I think by next year it will either be surrogacy or a vasectomy.’
The couple are still on cloud nine after their beautiful wedding in Portugal in June. The celebrations lasted two weeks and Chloe says the whole occasion was a dream come true.
She says, ‘It was so much fun, the best wedding ever! I wasn’t a stressy bride and I just enjoyed it. We were away for two weeks and I felt like the wedding lasted ages because we saw all our guests so much. It doesn’t feel too different being married, but it does feel strange saying “husband”. That makes me feel I’m older than my years.’
Chloe’s family hit headlines this year, with her other sister Lauryn being at the centre of a media storm. Lauryn, who shares her son Kairo with Man City footballer Kyle Walker, revealed that he was also father to her second child – a daughter named Kinara – despite him being married at the time. Chloe and Lauryn have since fallen out and sadly no longer speak. It has understandably been a difficult time for Chloe, but during our chat she focuses on more positive topics, including the degree in Adult Nursing that she has just started.
She says, ‘It’s going really well, I’m about to go off on my first placement. This is definitely my calling. When I qualify, I’d love to be an A&E nurse; I enjoy the fast pace and not knowing what’s coming through the doors.’
Though she admits that juggling studying alongside running her aesthetics clinic and being a mum-of-two is a lot.
‘The juggle is happening with excellent timetabling skills!’ she laughs. ‘My life is very scheduled, but I live next door to my dad, and my mum is helping me out too when Grant is away working. But at the weekend I won’t work or study – they’re for family time with the kids. They’re both doing amazing, Isla has just started school and Hudson starts pre-school in September. My babies are getting so big, so it definitely feels like a good time to consider another.’
