If you’re looking to add value to your home without splashing too much cash, check out this video by the FSCS that’ll show you how to add up to £10k to your home.
Lusting over A-List interior design that is way out of your budget? We’re all guilty of it, and social media (Pinterest, Instagram, I’m looking at you!) only makes us worse. It’s hard to mimic that Scandi-Style on a budget, and even harder to go for all out celeb style glitz and glam.
Luckily, there are so many ways you can fake it, and we’ve compiled this list of our top five favourites to help you take your home from drab to fab.
1. DIY
Get creative with what you already have, junk shop finds, or Ebay gems. Get that shabby chic look by taking an old wooden table, sanding it down, and giving it a white wash. Or turn a boring, old chest of drawers into a masterpiece by giving them a lick of paint, and new knobs!
2. White Bed Linen
Keeping your bed linen crisp and white and pristine will automatically give your bedroom that luxurious feel. It doesn’t have to be Egyptian cotton – just keep the white bright and keep it ironed, decorate with tasteful scatter cushions, and you’ve got a bedroom fit for a celeb!
3. Invest In Key Pieces
Invest in one key piece for your living room, and everything else can be budget! One amazing gilded mirror, piece of art or vintage clock will always capture the eye.
4. Reupholster
Sofas and chairs are EXPENSIVE. If yours is in good working order and you’re just bored of the fabric – you can just reupholster it! There are plenty of YouTube videos showing you how, or you can hire someone to do it for you. Say hello to the pink velvet sofa of your dreams without the price tag!
5. Less Is More
If you don’t have the cash to splash on filling your rooms with fashionable furniture and accessories, then just don’t! Go for the minimalist look. Focus on achieving that sleek, sophisticated look.
