Scarlett Moffatt was accused of bullying Martin Roberts by I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers this week, which left her parents horrified.
And now they’ve spoken out, saying she will be distraught to hear people think she’d do such a thing as she was targeted relentlessly by bullies during her teenage years.
Gogglebox star Scarlett became involved in a row this week when she and Danny Baker, who was booted off the show in last night’s elimination, took the side against television presenter Martin Roberts and he was later seen crying on camera.
But her mother Betty Moffatt insists she would never set out to hurt someone and insists she’s not a bully.
Betty told The Sun: “As someone who has been bullied herself when she was younger I think she would be absolutely mortified if she thought people were saying she was a bully. That really isn’t the sort of person she is.
“When she comes out I think she’ll be really upset by that and will feel really bad about it.”
Scarlett admits in her book, Scarlett Says, that she feels uncomfortable with her appearance and goes to great lengths to make herself feel better.
She says she puts so much fake tan on that it comes off on her bedsheets and loves to make herself look more glamorous.
But at school she endured years of torment when she was targeted for her “goofy teeth, monobrow and obsession with aliens”.
