Peter Andre became the ninth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing last night.

The singer, along with his dance partner Janette Manrara, was voted off by judges following a dance off against Eastenders star Kellie Bright and her dance partner Kevin Clifton.

Opting to save Kellie Bright, Bruno Tonioli said:

'They both gave a very powerful and very entertaining performance but based on the dance I saw the one that I thought has more content and was technically more accurate was Kellie and Kevin.'

Despite his disappointment father-of-three took the decision well, telling Tess Daley:

'It's been nothing but joy.

'Like I said before, there is no shame in leaving, we are so grateful. I love everybody. Thank you.'

Pete, 42, started off as the show’s favourite, impressing judges with his ‘first class’ Charleston earlier in the series.

However his performance rating started slipping, and last week Jamelia hinted the show was fixed.

Claiming that producers orchestrated his standing ovation the weekend she was eliminated, Jamelia explained:

'The honest thing is, he didn’t [get the audience reaction shown on TV].

'But on the show he did. I love Peter and he has tried so hard and he is a brilliant dancer, maybe the jive wasn't for him.

'I do think there has been a huge backlash, a lot of people on Twitter raving about him, saying he should go home. But Pete is not behind the decision-making process and I don't think he should bear the brunt of any of this.'

Pete slammed the accusations at the time, responding:

'I have never heard or seen anything of the sort. People who have good dances in rehearsals get good marks,' he told The Mirror. 'Take for example my Charleston dance a few weeks ago. I got two nines and two 10s, but then my jive was not so good.

'Based on that particular night I wouldn’t have been surprised if I had gone. But then we did the dance off and it’s down to the judges. If Bruno or Craig think I did better then I’m through – and it ain’t over till the fat lady sings.’

Uh-oh, handbags at dawn.
