Katie McGlynn, best known for playing Sinead Tinker on Coronation Street, is joining the cast of Hollyoaks 18 months after making her exit from the cobbles.

Views will know that Sinead Tinker tragically lost her battle with cervical cancer in 2019 after many months in pain, leaving her son Bertie behind with her husband, Daniel Osbourne.

But now Katie is returning to acting with a new role on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, playing new mum with an "ulterior motive", Becky.

Dev and Bernie head out for that drink, with Asha and Aadi teasing that Dev's love life is non existent. Out on their 'fake' date, Dev and Bernie get on like a house on fire and soon Dev invites her back to his. Afterward, Dev tells Bernie not to expect a repeat performance.

Without giving too much away, Katie said of her new role, "When I first read the script, I knew instantly that this storyline was an important one, and something that I could really sink my teeth into."

Becky will befriend vulnerable Diane Hutchinson as they bond over their newborns and we quickly learn there’s more to the character than meets the eye.

Speaking of her excitement over her shiny new job, Katie continued, "I’m so excited for everyone to meet Becky and am thrilled to be working alongside the amazing cast and crew of Hollyoaks, especially the show's producer Lucy (Allan), who I previously worked with at the beginning of my acting career on Waterloo Road - so it’s lovely to be working with her again 10 years on.

"The whole team couldn’t have been any more welcoming so far and I’m hopeful the story will have an impact on the viewers as it covers some extremely current and important issues. I’m super humbled to continue doing the work I really love and hope everyone enjoys watching it all unfold on screen as much as I’ve enjoyed filming it so far."
