Speaking exclusively with OK! Online, Nikki explained: "For Maxine I was a little bit more wary and scared about [her and Patrick getting back together] because obviously the history that they've had together.
“It's something you wouldn't expect Maxine to willingly walk back into, but she does."
Many viewers have been busy hoping that this reunion will encourage Patrick to turn over a new leaf.
But Nikki let slip that Patrick may be just as manipulative as ever…
The soapstar said: "We'll only have to see won't we.
“He's a very clever man, Patrick. He can twist things, turn things, very much to his advantage so we'll see.”
She added: “I’m sure that even if Maxine was gonna get what she deserves from it, probably she won't because he will turn it on its head, probably."
Hollyoaks viewers recently watched Patrick, who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, ask Maxine to help him die.
The emotional storyline will eventually lead to the departure of Jeremy Sheffield, who has been playing the manipulative Patrick since November 2012.
Speaking about the upcoming exit of her co-star, Nikki Sanderson told Radio Times: "I'll be gutted. Devastated.
“He's fantastic to work with - we've laughed, we've cried, we've annoyed each other, but I can honestly say that I love that man. It's been a great on-screen relationship."
