Helen Flanagan has landed an acting job with long-running BBC medical drama Holby City.

The actress is returning to prime time television as a lazy agency nurse named Kirsty in an episode set to air in July this year.

The 23-year-old star said: "I'm really pleased to be working in a show I really enjoy."

Holby City's executive producer, Oliver Kent, explained that Helen's appearance on Holby is going to be absolutely unmissable.

He said: "We're delighted to have Helen on the show. She's going to ruffle some feathers."

"It’s definitely an episode to watch."

But Corrie fans needn't despair; Helen also told new! magazine that she would love to go back to Coronation Street at some point.

"I think because I was there for 12 years, and I grew up with it, I obviously wanted to find my own feet.

"I still want to explore different acting roles before I go back but I definitely would like to return at some point."
