Channel 4's Gogglebox is one of our absolute favourite guilty pleasures. Whoever thought that sitting down to watch ordinary couples, families and friends spend an evening in front of the telly could be so much fun, eh?
Too bad the show is apparently not as genuine as it claims to be.
One of Gogglebox's reality stars has come forward to reveal that each show is filmed over just one night, with each of the show's favourites changing clothes up to five times - not to mention making up a range of different snacks - so the clips look like they were filmed over a week.
The Gogglebox whistleblower, who asked the Daily Star not to reveal their identity, revealed the fakery after viewers on Twitter commented that certain parts of the show didn't look real.
They said: "We don’t film across the week. You set aside a night for filming and it can go on for hours.
"We also keep changing clothes, food and drinks to make it look we’re filmed on different nights.
Most damningly of all, perhaps, they added: "Sometimes we are told, ‘Louis Walsh is going to say something shocking on X Factor so we want you to react to that.
"If you can’t think of anything, the producers come up with a joke. If you fluff it they film it again."
Say it ain't so, anonymous Gogglebox star!
A Channel 4 spokeswoman has since denied the claims, saying: "The Gogglebox cast are filmed for two to three nights per week.
"We film them watching live television and some that has been recorded. The cast have received fees for their time on every series.
"The production team do not influence the comments. The reactions are genuine."
