Emmerdale fans will remember Ian Kelsey as Dave Glover, whose storylines included having an affair with Kim Tate (Claire King).

But now the actor will be joining Coronation Street as Vinny, a property developer, who is an old friend of Pat Phelan.

The two old associates will more than likely be causing quite a stir in Weatherfield, but there’s no word yet of what exactly the pair will get up to.

After leaving Emmerdale, Ian starred in Casualty, Holby City, Where The Heart Is, Blue Murder, and most recently, Doctors – so he’s definitely had his fair share of acting on soaps!

The 49 year old started filming for Coronation Street on Friday (June 17) and will be appearing on screens from August.

Ian’s arrival will come after Jason Grimshaw leaves, and Pat ‘kindly’ helps out Jason’s mum Eileen by managing the business.

Evil Pat is bankrupt and planning to rebuild his business empire using Jason’s company as a front – which is where Vinny comes onto the scene.

Soon-to-be on-screen friend, Connor McIntryre (Pat Phelan) took to Twitter to welcome Ian to the ITV soap.

He said: “@IanKelseyActor @itvcorrie Welcome to Weatherfield my friend .... we will do great things together !!”

We can’t wait to see what Ian’s character has in store for the residents of Coronation Street!
