WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

As well as groping Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) during a photoshoot for his salon, Dean (Matt Di Angelo) also drunkenly kissed her before she pushed him off and made her feelings clear.

And it seems as if Matt Di Angelo’s character Dean Wicks will take an even more sinister turn over the next few weeks, as he is set to rape his sister-in-law Linda in a horrifying sexual attack.

Speaking with the Radio Times, Di Angelo said: "It’s a scary thing to have your face associated with that heinous crime, but I’m here to tell meaningful stories.

"People are going to be shocked and upset by the story. There are going to be a lot of complaints."

However, despite the horrific nature of the scenes, Di Angelo added that he is very glad the show is covering such an important topic.

He said: "It was disturbing to film. We had a closed set, Kellie was amazing and we had five or six hours of rehearsal time, which is unheard of on EastEnders.

"It’s an important storyline and the statistics about rape are shocking. Eighty percent of rapes aren’t reported. That needs to be spoken about."

The scenes will be aired later this autumn - but it is safe to assume that Linda will find it difficult to speak out about what has happened to her, especially as friend Sharon (Letitia Dean) refused to believe that she was kissed by Dean against her will.

"It takes two to tango," she told her friend.
