EastEnders fans had a huge surprise last night when Whitney Dean's brother Ryan Malloy - aka Neil McDermott - made a shock appearence back in Walford.
Free from his prison stint and looking for a fresh start, Ryan tried to convince Whitney, Lee Carter and her unborn baby to up sticks and move 'to Wakefield' with him, leaving her life with the Carters at the Queen Vic behind.
The move all made sense, especially as Lee and Whitney are eager to make a life of their own and London is waaaaay too pricey.
Despite Linda Carter's pleas for the couple to stay 'where they belong' and that moving in with Ryan is an awful idea, it looks like Wakefield could definitely be an option for Lee and Whitney in the future - if they get that far.
Viewers now know that Lee Carter - played by Danny Boy Hatchard - will be leaving the soap soon and it doesn't look like Whitney could be going with him. There's been no announcement made of Whitney's (Shona McGarty) departure whatsoever.
A BBC source recently told to the Sun: "This was a tough decision but sometimes to create big storylines characters need to come and go.
“Danny-Boy is a dedicated actor and a popular cast member, and as part of the Carter family, no one should rule out a return.”
An EastEnders spokesman said: “Danny-Boy has been a great addition to the cast and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Will Lee Carter break Whitney's heart? Or will tragedy tear them apart? Meaning Wakefield is just one big dream...
