A source told the Daily Star: “It’s touch and go whether Kat survives. She wasn’t meant to be in the house on the night it goes up in flames.

“As the fire takes hold she wakes up and, although she gets out, he life will never be the same again.

“Stacey, Alfie, Big Mo, Lily, Tommy, Bert and Ernie all live in the house and the fire will involved other Walford residents as well, so it remains to be seen if she is the only victim.”

Jessie Wallace, 42, who plays Kat, is already being tipped to win awards for her performance and portrayal of this very sensitive subject.
