EastEnders fans were stunned when Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) faked a pregnancy in a bid to keep her boyfriend, Ben Mitchell (Harry Reid), from following his heart and leaving her for Paul Coker (Johnny Labey).
The youngster assumed she’d be able to fall pregnant easily enough before Ben ever found out, but she was incorrect.
And now, with Ben’s STI looming over them, sex is completely off the table; after all, they have their unborn child’s safety to think of…
In a bid to keep her mind off her deception, Abi decides to throw Ben a birthday party at the Queen Vic next week.
However, as is so often the case in Walford, things don’t go according to plan.
After struggling to deal with his drunken dad, Phil (Steve McFadden), Ben turns to Paul for comfort, and opens up about the enormous pressure he is under.
But, when he tries to kiss him, Paul pulls away; he doesn’t want to betray Abi any more than they already have done.
Ben is left hurt by Paul’s rejection, and decides to throw himself into impending fatherhood wholeheartedly.
He soon finds himself suggesting to Abi that they book in for their baby's scan, as he wants to get his first glimpse of his unborn child.
However his words, while well-meaning, leave his girlfriend terrified.
Shaken and panicky, Abi breaks down in front of Babe Smith (Annette Badland) as she begs for yet more advice.
Babe soon realises that they need to think of an idea fast to stop the truth from coming out - and it’s not long before she unveils her wicked plan.
What terrible scheme does Babe have up her sleeve this time? And will she be able to stop Abi Branning's lies from being exposed?
And how will Ben react when he discovers Abi has been lying to him for months?
"Let’s be honest, he’s an emotional character, he is troubled,” actor Harry Reid previously told The Metro.
“I’d imagine it’ll hurt him more than anger him. Abi is essentially, before all of this, his best mate and he wouldn’t expect his best friend to lie to him like this."
He added: "[There is going to be] Lots of drama, a lot more lies – there’s always lies knocking about there – and an opportunity to see how strong their friendship is.
“When the truth does out, it will be a real test of their friendship and their loyalty to each other.”
We guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next...
One thing's for sure, it's going to be absolutely unmissable telly!
EastEnders airs these scenes all next week on BBC One.
