The festive season in Albert Square is set to be another one of heartache, with one of the square's staple characters reportedly meeting a tragic end.
According to The Mirror, it's the Slater family's turn to suffer this year, with a source revealing that Charlie Slater faces a shocking death on New Year's Eve.
Played by 82-year-old Derek Martin, Charlie's character has featured in the soap for 15 years, and his return was only recently confirmed.
But now an insider has told the Mirror:
'Charlie's death is going to hit Kat hard. His storyline will be the catalyst for her to learn more secrets which will see her and Alfie [Shane Richie] eventually head to Ireland.
“Charlie’s death is going to be a real tearjerker for the audience, too, and they will be waiting to see if he and Kat can mend bridges before he dies.”
I guess we're set for another cheery EE festive season then, eh?
