The 39-year-old, who plays Linda Carter on the BBC One soap appeared on Chris Evan's Radio 2 breakfast show to discuss the news, admitting she's looking forward to getting really fit through dancing.
Kellie said: "One of the main reasons I decided to do the show is the fact that I'm going to be 40 this year and to be the fittest I've ever been at this point in my life would be a great thing.
"It'll be a challenge – but I want to see what my body is capable of."
If Kellie needs any pointers she can always ask her Enders co-star Jake Wood, aka Max Branning, who enjoyed a successful stint on the dancing competition last year.
She continued: "I haven't really done any exercise since I had my little boy – and he's three-and-a-half now! I started training about three weeks ago at my Cross Fit Gym, which offers a special type of training.
"It's all about strengthening and increasing your body's metabolic condition. It's about an hour's workout. I do exercises like flipping tyres."
Sounds like much harder work than pulling pints behind the bar at the Queen Vic, eh?
Kellie added: "I have always enjoyed exercise but now it's going to be a priority. One of the perks of doing Strictly is how fit it makes you."
Surely another is the sparkly costumes you get to dress up in, Kellie!
Also confirmed for the show are telly chef Ainsley Harriott and radio presenter Jeremy Vine.
