When David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is taken in for questioning, he takes the chance to blame someone as it becomes clear he’s the prime suspect.

Pointing the finger at Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) in a desperate attempt to get rid of unwanted attention on his part, Jason’s brother Todd (Bruno Langley) becomes suspicious and wants the truth.

Speaking to What’s On TV previously, Jack revealed: “All the Platts are suspects and, initially, we all get arrested because we were all in the house. The pressure starts to get to David, but he still thinks they’ll get away with it somehow…”

Could pointing the blame at Jason be David’s way of focusing the attention away from his family?

Jack also explained that he believes David would even let Sarah be put away for Callum’s murder to ensure the safety of Kylie Platt and the kids, adding: “He’d let anyone else go down for it. It would be painful if Sarah went down for it, but he wouldn’t be bothered as long as Kylie and the kids were OK.”

In scenes set to air in next week (June 3), Todd becomes increasingly worried about Sarah Platt’s behaviour, and she decides to confide in him.

Realising she knows something about Callum’s death, which Todd’s brother is now in the frame for, he quizzes Sarah (Tina O'Brien) and she cracks under the pressure – confessing she was responsible.

Trying to explain Callum attacked the mum-of-two, Todd misunderstands and believes Sarah has confessed to the murder.

Confiding in vicar Billy, Todd says Sarah killed Callum in self-defence but he doesn’t want her to go to prison for his death – however, he obviously doesn’t want his brother Jason to go down for a crime he didn’t commit.

Billy urges Todd to do the right thing, but can he find a way to help both Sarah and Jason?

However, earlier this year Jack P. Shepherd revealed that he could be leaving the soap soon, after starring in a short film and enjoying the prospect of something new.

He explained: “I have loved being at Corrie, but doing this film with Ben has opened my eyes.

“Obviously, if something came about and it was too good an offer to turn down, then of course I would want to do it.”

And fans will already know that Paula Lane – who plays Kylie – is definitely leaving the ITV soap soon, as she’s pregnant with her second child.

So could Kylie and possibly David’s exit from the Cobbles mean the pair have been sent down for Callum’s murder?

Or will Todd decide to speak to the police about Sarah?

We will have to wait and see…

Coronation Street continues tonight on ITV at 9pm.
