Charleine Wain has made it through to the final five of this year’s series of The Apprentice - and stands a chance to become Lord Alan Sugar’s new business partner.

But, while her fellow contenders are hungry for success, Charleine has a very personal reason for pushing herself so hard.

In October 2007, Charleine was left devastated when her three-month-old son, Caylan, died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

And it was this tragedy which drove her to throw herself into a beauty career and aim to become a successful businesswoman.

She told The Apprentice: The Final Five: “I see my hairdressing and hair salon as a representation of something so good coming off something so tragic and so bad.

“I just want to make it as successful as I can.”

Speaking about how she coped at the time of Caylan’s sudden passing, she said: “As a family, if I didn’t have my husband Scott, I think I would have cracked.

“I was so low and so rock bottom.

“It was a really hard place to be in. It was really difficult.”

Charleine went on to explain that she has an extra-special way of remaining close to her little boy.

She said: “My dragonfly necklace is the way that I carry by little boy around with me.”

Her husband, Scott, added: “It is just a reminder really because we will never, ever forget our son. She wears it close to her heart and he is always close to our hearts.”

Charleine is now keen to forge ahead in her career - but wants to be close to home, so that she can be there for her children, son Ethan (Caylan’s twin brother), her daughter, Maia, and her stepson, Matthew.

She added: "I am so determined to become Lord Sugar’s business partner. I have so much passion for what I want to do and I will not stop until I succeed."

Charleine Wain will go up against Gary Poulton, Joseph Valente, Vana Koutsomitis, and Richard Woods in the final.

The Apprentice continues next Wednesday at 9pm.
