The mother-of-two was interviewing dentist Dr Uchenna Okoye, who was on the show to talk about children's dental hygiene.

However her introduction of Dr Okoye went embarrassingly wrong when she failed to pronounce the dentist’s name live on air.

Digging herself a deeper hole, the 44-year-old presenter then cackled at her attempted pronunciation, before admitting:

"I'm so sorry I just made that up.. Okoye. Uchenna Okoye, yep."

However her guests didn’t seem impressed, remaining awkwardly composed.

Thankfully Phillip Schofield jumped to his co-presenter’s rescue, quickly pronouncing the dentist’s name correctly.

Phillip then reintroduced the dentist after the break, to which Amanda replied: ‘You’re just showing off now!’.

And Dr Okeye appeared to see the funny side.

But viewers weren’t as forgiving, with one tweeting:

"How RUDE. You should know her name before the show airs, laughing doesn't make it ok #thismorning”.

Another added: "Wow. How rude is @AmandaHolden?! Laughing because she said the ladies surname wrong? & then putting on an accent to repeat it. #ThisMorning”.

The hosts were discussing ways in which to improve the dental hygiene of young children with figures showing that a shocking 46,500 children a year have had their teeth removed under general anaesthetic, 26,000 of which are aged under nine.

Surprisingly, Dr Okoye, of London Smiling Dental Group, explained that that "organic fruit juice was just as bad as [drinking] coke”.

Noo!
