How do you suggest getting fit whilst working shifts and running a busy household?

Try and build into your routine where at least an hour of your week is entirely devoted to exercise. If you work set shifts or you run a busy household you need to be disciplined and pre-plan when your hour is going to be. During this time, do an activity that you are going to enjoy but know you will be working into a sweat. My suggestion would be combining exercises with interval training and weights.

How do you propose people incorporate fitness into their busy lives when they're already running low on energy?

Eating the right foods is key. Having a good diet can be instrumental to building your energy levels. Eating heavy high carb meals such as pasta and pizza gives you low energy which reduces motivation and willingness to incorporate fitness. You should try to start your day with foods like porridge or bananas that slowly release energy.

During the winter, our bodies naturally want to take on more carbs which makes discipline in eating the right foods vital. It is all about building the right habits.

**How can families stay fit and get fit together? **

There are loads of activities that families can do together. You should always check out what your local club or gym has to offer, sign up and participate. Alternatively activities like swimming, running and hiking can be great ways for a family to exercise and bond together.

I would recommend setting a collective goal, this might be linked to something like completing a half marathon together, or completing an assault course challenge like Tough Mudder, or shedding a certain amount of weight. You can then bounce off other family members for inspiration.

How important is it for parents to keep fit for their children?

We all lead busy, fast-paced lives and sometimes feel that there is no time for anything but it is really important for children that parents maintain a decent level of fitness. Parents are naturally role-models for their children and by maintaining active lifestyles they help to convey the value to their son or daughter of being fit and healthy. It also gives parents more opportunities to bond with their children over things like playing sports at the park, going for walks or swimming.

**What sort of workouts and classes can people fit into a busy schedule? **

There are so many apps, gyms, health clubs that offer workouts and classes – the best way to approach it is to research, sign up and go! Today people have flexibility over where they workout, for how long and for what intensity. Online workouts, DVD workouts, app led exercises – they all give people the flexibility they need to build exercise into their weekly routine. It’s also worth noting that often there are express workouts available at health clubs, for example indoor cycling/spinning often run 30 minute classes, 45 minute classes or hour long sessions depending on people’s time availability.
