The gorgeous singer has revealed the strict ‘cleanse’ diet she followed in the run-up to her Vogue cover shoot to ensure a glowing complexion.
I did a lot of stuff like vitamins and supplements, I changed my coffee to green tea and I didn't drink any alcohol for three months
Speaking in a new interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the 28 year-old revealed she took vitamins and supplements and cut coffee and alcohol from her diet for three whole months before the shoot.
The singer – whose makeup-free face was famously tweeted by ex-husband Russell Brand when they were together – first joked: ‘I roll out of bed like that...,’
But the cover-girl went on to admit: ‘I did a lot of my own prepping. I went on a cleanse... I did a lot of stuff like vitamins and supplements, I changed my coffee to green tea and I didn't drink any alcohol for three months.’
I just wanted to be glowing for that cover
‘So I was like really in the zone as I just wanted to be glowing for that cover,’ she added.
Although unlike most celebrities, Katy doesn’t rely completely on airbrushing and makeup artists for her flawless look, she has been open about the work that went into her transformation.
Katy – who also appears on the cover of UK’s ELLE magazine this month – let Vogue readers in on her beauty routine in a behind-the-scenes video.
In the clip, the singer goes from fresh-faced to made up and discusses how her look has evolved over time.
‘We used to like to do dramatic makeup, but I think we are coming into the more age appropriate field of experimenting,’ she says.
Katy also remarks on how she used to be insecure about her skin and reveals which facial features she is particularly fond of.
‘My brows and my eyes are what I think frame my whole face. I have alright lips and alright cheekbones, but they're no, like showoffs.’
Although Katy proves she can look amazing without the products, she admits she loves to get dolled up: ‘I love a good paint,’ she says.
