During X Factor auditionee Jade McGurie’s incredible talent show debut, we learned about her musical past as a member of pop group ‘Pop’.
But it would seem that the Glaswegian mum-of-two is hiding a much darker, slightly less wholesome history as well.
30-year-old Jade- who currently works as a receptionist- dated security boss Jamie Bruce, 32, who had links with Glasgow gangs.
The Sun reports that Jade’s ex ’s was convicted in 2009 after allegedly battering a man with a metal pole. The reportedly ‘known gangster’ was also allegedly involved in a blackmailing scandal, according to the paper.
A source told The Sun: “Jade was terrified of the repercussions if her relationship with Jamie was made public.
“He is a very powerful man and she had no idea how he would react. But she was determined to go ahead and audition for the show.
“Part of the reason she decided to go for it was because she was in Jamie’s shadow for so many years. Now she wants to escape from that shadow.”
Jade and Mr Bruce are no longer together, but the former couple share custody of their two young children, son Brandon and daughter Mia.
“Jade has never wanted to be defined by this area of her past and wants to concentrate on her singing."
The singer performed a rendition of Tina Arena’s Chains during Saturday night’s audition show, with Jade dedicating her performance to her young children.
She told the judges: "I have been a mum for the last ten years and my children made me come today. There is a lot riding on today. I feel like this is my last shot."
The X Factor auditions continue this weekend on ITV at 8pm Saturday and Sunday.
