Sad news for X Factor fans as the famous, booming voice behind bright lights will no longer be appearing on the show.

Peter Dickson announced his exit on Twitter, writing: “After the best 11 years with the X Factor, it's time for me to check out and cut loose.”

Fans of the ITV talent show were quick to share their sadness over the departure, with one writing: “Sorry to see you go. You have been the best thing about the show for years.”

Another paid tribute to him in a sad post, writing: “How will we know when to face the music?”

Following host Dermot O’Leary’s departure earlier this year, the new season of The X Factor will be taking on a completely new look now that Peter Dickson has also jumped ship.

One fan wrote: “First Dermot now you..two voices synonymous with the X Factor. Was it a difficult decision to leave the show?”

Peter’s over-the-top voice overs helped make The X Factor one of the most talked about shows on TV.

Impressionists clamoured to imitate the famous commentary, and when judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini married husband Jean-Bernard last year the voice artist was called upon to ‘reveal’ her name in true X Factor fashion.
