The TV presenter was forced to release the video following reports that he used a racist word in an outtake of an episode of Top Gear.
Jeremy appears to mumble the word, but the audio appears to sound like an offensive slur.
The TV star denies saying the racist word on purpose and the BBC released a statement following the report by The Mirror.
‘Jeremy Clarkson has set out the background to this regrettable episode. We have made it absolutely clear to him the standards the BBC expects on air and off.'
‘We have left him in no doubt about how seriously we view this.’
The video shows Jeremy looking into the camera as he apologises to fans for the apparent use of the ‘N-word.’
He says: ‘I did not use the N-word. Never use it. The Mirror has gone way too far this time.’
Clarkson told fans he was now ‘begging for forgiveness’ following the release of the now infamous clip.
‘I was mortified by this, horrified. It was a word I loathe.’
He continued: ‘I did everything in my power to ensure that that word did not get in the programme that was transmitted.’
