They were once one of the closest and most powerful families in showbiz – but recently, the Beckhams have been going through the wringer. While eldest child Brooklyn and wife Nicola Peltz may be at loggerheads with the rest of the clan, a new feud has emerged. Now parents Victoria and David have their middle son Romeo – and his ex-girlfriend – to worry about.
The model, 22, recently split from his girlfriend of seven months Kim Turnbull, with pals saying their romance ‘fizzled out’ just three weeks after attending David’s 50th birthday. And after Romeo has already seemingly moved on with German model Caroline Daur – with the pair being spotted leaving a bash at Hotel Costes in Paris last week, before going on to party at Julia nightclub until the early hours – DJ Kim, 26, is said to be determined to ‘clear her name’.
Last month, friends revealed that Kim felt she was a ‘scapegoat’ in the feud between Brooklyn, 26, and his family – as the pair had reportedly been close as teenagers, years before she began her romance with his brother. It was said that Kim was the reason Brooklyn and his wife of three years Nicola, 30, missed every one of dad David’s milestone birthday celebrations – with reports revealing that the couple didn’t want to be in the same room as Kim.
Insiders now tell Closer how Kim is determined to spill the beans in a tell-all interview, which will reveal shocking details about the Beckhams’ drama – making Victoria, 51, panic.
The source says, ‘Just when Vic thought her family drama couldn’t get any worse, Romeo’s split from Kim has poured yet more fuel on the fire. She feels it’s come at the worst possible time. Not only was Romeo upset at the break-up, but they’ve heard whispers that Kim’s hell-bent on ensuring the world knows the truth, given the allegations that she’s the reason the feud erupted in the first place.’
They continue, ‘Kim was privy to a lot of personal details during her time with Romeo, including family secrets and insider family intel that Vic is now petrified she’s going to spill – not only to clear her name, but to ensure her profile gets a boost now she’s no longer tied to the Beckhams.’
While things reportedly remain ‘amicable’ between Romeo and Kim, our insider adds, ‘The fact that she’s been thrown to the wolves as the other woman behind the family row is deeply upsetting to Brooklyn’s parents and siblings.’
The Beckhams’ problems are actually said to stem back to Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish £3 million wedding in April 2022.
‘Some felt that Nicola was absolutely foul in the run-up to the wedding and on the day,’ a source previously said of the fallout. ‘She was rude to Victoria, she shunned other members of the Beckham family and now it appears she wants to blame the latest fallout on Kim, which is just nasty. It is like they are trying to rewrite history.’
So while no one could blame Kim for speaking out, Posh, 51, fears her words could tear her family apart for good – as well as destroying their global brand, and even spoiling the recent news of David receiving his much-longed for Knighthood.
Vic’s feeling very anxious about it,’ our insider continues. ‘It’s her worst fears imagined, and the exact reason why she tried so hard to have NDAs put in place for her sons’ significant others – which they all fought her on so hard and refused to have them do. Now she’s petrified they’re going to pay the price and that Kim won’t hold back in setting the record straight, which she fears will only make the feud worse.’
And while Victoria continues to fret about what Kim will potentially speak about, it’s taking its toll on her own relationship – as they worry about not only losing Brooklyn permanently, but a potential estrangement from another of their children.
‘The ripple effect this is all having on her and David’s marriage is surfacing more and more and is understandably causing friction between them, not to mention their very real fears that they stand to potentially lose another son if they don’t handle this correctly,’ the insider adds. ‘Right now, their main priority is protecting Romeo in all of this and doing whatever it takes to ensure he’s not pulled into a kind of kiss-and-tell or dragged through the mud by an ex looking for revenge.
‘Vic knows that if she doesn’t do something drastic soon, this could all implode. In her lowest moments she even wonders about jetting off to Miami for a showdown with Nicola’s parents in a desperate bid to do whatever she can to try to rectify this mess before it spirals even further. She’s terrified that if she doesn’t calm the feud soon, she risks never getting Brooklyn back.’
