The star was found on Tuesday hanging in her New York apartment.
The star had reportedly left no note and her Facebook and Twitter pages were posting messages up until the time of her death.
L’Wren was reportedly in millions of dollars worth of debt and her fashion company was struggling.
Signs of struggle became apparent when the model and designer pulled out of London Fashion Week.
The circumstances surrounding her death come just months after she gave an interview saying: ‘Luxury is a state of mind….’
She continued: ‘Because, for me, it really is. It’s legroom, it’s a beautiful view, it’s great food at a great restaurant you’ve discovered because you obsessively read Zagat as I do.’
L’Wren’s partner, Rolling Stone’s Mick Jagger, was informed of her death straight away and is said to be distraught.
He talked about L’Wren in an interview several months before.
‘I try to help L'Wren,’ he said. ‘You always try to help whoever you're kind of dating. I always help them out in one way or another.’
‘That's what you do. And vice-versa they do the same for you.’
L’Wren’s former house keeper revealed that the star ‘sacrificed a lot’ to be with the rock legend.
‘She knew there were other women, but she accepted it to be with him.’
‘She would tell me she wanted to get married and have a family, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up or say it out loud to Mick. She didn’t want to pressure him.’
L’Wren also reportedly refused financial help from Mick.
Mick’s daughter Georgia has also reportedly pulled out of a fashion show in Melbourne to be with her family.
