There’s no doubt in our minds that Tom and Giovanna Fletcher are wonderful parents to two-year-old Buzz and baby Buddy.
But the couple have come under fire from some Instagram users recently… and it’s all down to Giovanna sharing a snap of her toddler’s footwear on Instagram.
The proud mum captioned the snapshot: “Colourful shoe game today from Buzz!
“Thanks Auntie Giorgie and Uncle Chickpea!”
In the sweet snap, little Buzz could be seen wearing a pair of AWESOME little Nike Air Max trainers.
And, while many thought the colourful sneakers were cool beyond words, there were some who took offence to the bright pink laces.
Oh yes, we’re deadly serious.
In a cruel comment that's since been deleted, a follower insisted that the laces were “highly embarrassing” for a boy.
They also claimed that Tom and Gi shouldn’t be putting their son in “girls shoes”.
There are a LOT of unenlightened people in this world, it seems.
Firstly, there’s no such thing as ‘girl’s shoes’ - little kids can wear whatever they want.
And, secondly, we doubt that Buzz ever felt embarrassed about his shoes.
In fact, if he’s anything like the toddlers we know, he was probably too busy running around in them and getting them covered in muck!
So it’s unsurprising that plenty of Instagram users leapt to Tom and Gio’s defence, choosing instead to praise them for giving their little boy the confidence to wear whatever he wants.
One supportive fan said: “I was pretty sure the world was ‘over’ the whole.. pink is for girls and blue is for boys?”
They continued: “Obviously some people are not. Gorgeous shoes for a gorgeous little guy! Fab parents too!”
“Parenting done right,” another said firmly. “Don't raise your child to gender associate products, raise them to have the confidence to make their own choices.”
Hear hear!
