The 17-year-old star, who had a break-out hit with Royals last year, tweeted two images taken from the same day - one which shows her with traces of teenage skin, where another shows her with a smooth, porcelain complexion.
Tweeting to her 1.35 million followers, the teenage star wrote: 'i find this curious - two photos from today, one edited so much my skin is perfect and one real. remember flaws are ok :-)'
Lorde, whose real name is Ella, has previously posted a photo of her in bed with acne cream on - and certainly isn't shy about sharing her imperfections with her huge following.
The Antipodean star is celebrated by fans for being down-to-earth and no-nonsense, with one twitter user commenting on Lorde's photo share: 'This is why we love you.'
Many other celebs have spoken out against people manipulating their images without permission. In Beyonce's H&M swimwear campaign she demanded that the company use the original images rather than the edited ones they had wanted to.
Likewise, following her bust size being digitally increased on the poster of King Arthur, Keira Knightley refuses to be altered in any way in images.
