Selena Gomez admits to spending two weeks in rehab, ‘but not for substance abuse’

The last few weeks has seen Justin Bieber’s behaviour seemingly spiral out of control and people around him questioning whether or not he needs to go to rehab.

Now his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez had admitted to spending time in a rehabilitation center, but insists it wasn’t for ‘substance abuse.’

In a statement, Selena’s team revealed she spent a couple of weeks at the Dawn at The Meadows recovery center in Arizona last month, saying: “Selena voluntarily spend time at The Meadows but not for substance abuse.”

Sources close to the former Disney star, 21, say her parents became worried that her partying was becoming too much so they decided she needed help before it became to late.

An insider told a US website: “Her friends and family became increasingly worried that there might be a serious problem with Selena. Particularly, her parents. The partying was, at times, wild.

“They wanted to help her – and they very much encouraged her to go to rehab. Others very close to her also urged her to seek professional help.”

The source said that Selena ‘became exhausted’ and decided it was time to take control of her life.

“It’s important to remember that Selena had worked in Hollywood non-stop for six years. She was exhausted. Selena was smart enough to realise that she needed to take control of her life.

“It just got to the point where she needed to get out of Los Angeles, get away from ‘the scene’ and the pressures of Hollywood, to also get away from those who, admittedly, been a bad influence on her.”
