Sarah Michelle Gellar may be Buffy Summers to some fans, but she’s better known to Cruel Intentions fans as the sadistic and seductive Kathryn Merteuilis.

And, after recently revealing that she will be reprising her role for NBC's Cruel Intentions pilot, it seems as if Sarah is ready to embrace her character once again.

Yes, that means it's back to dark hair!

She gave her fans a sneaky peek at her darker ‘do, giving them just a glimpse of her hair from the salon chair.

She jokingly captioned the shot: “What is happening????”

However, despite her initial misgivings about ditching her blonde locks, it seems as if the mum-of-two is totally in love with her new look.

Beaming proudly, she showed off her chestnut waves in a cute selfie for Instagram - and there’s no denying that it suits her really well.

She wrote: “#brownhairdontcare (actually kind of love it!!) thank you everyone @andylecomptesalon”

Fans flocked to praise her Cruel Intentions makeover, with one commenting: “Sarah this is the best you've looked in ages. Absolutely gorgeous.”

Another added, slightly more excitedly: “SO BEAUTIFUL!!!”

The NBC pilot for the Cruel Intentions TV show, which will be based on the 1999 film, will see Kathryn up to her old tricks again.

But, as you may have guessed, she’s out of high school - and has an entirely new kettle of fish to fry.

Expect to see her fighting for control of Valmont International and Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), the son of her late brother Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon).

And, yes, expect to see her brunette - we can’t wait!
