Joey Essex, judging from comments on Twitter, has definitely been winning over viewers of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! during his jungle stint. So it makes sense that his fellow ex-girlfriend - and fellow TOWIE star - Sam Faiers has opened up about why she ended things with Mr Essex.

"All he would talk about was Justin. But he never found him"

And, weirdly, it has a lot to do with Justin Bieber.

Yup, you read that right; during an interview with The Sun, Sam revealed that her ex-fiance's four-day-long quest to find Justin Bieber ruined her 22nd birthday AND their relationship.

“He heard he was staying in our hotel. He spent four days trying to track him down. All he would talk about was Justin. But he never found him.

"I wanted to have fun but it was like getting blood out of a stone with Joey. We were on the holiday of my dreams, my 22nd birthday present and we were having a miserable time.

“I was engaged to a boy who is 22 but I’m mentally a lot older than him. The pressure led me to throw a strop and I told him I was leaving. Soon after we broke up.”

As Alice would say, it gets curiouser and curiouser...

Sam, who also made it abundantly clear that she has no desire to join Joey in the jungle, continued her anti-Joey rant, spilling the poisonous beans on his OCD behaviour, severe hypochondria and shopping addiction.

“Joey can act like he has OCD. Everything has to be done in a Joey way. His clothes are all folded the same and he doesn’t do his shoelaces up normally. He does them in his own weird way with a different knot.

"One of the biggest rows we ever had was over beans on toast. I had put the beans on the toast but he was furious, saying the beans should never go on the toast, they have to go next to it. He was so angry he stormed out.

"He has a whole room stacked with trainers — he has about 200 pairs. And he has a massive walk-in wardrobe crammed with designer clothes.

“We went to New York once and he blew £10,000 on clothes. He also loves Louis Vuitton luggage."

Apparently Joey Essex is a hypchondriac, a severe OCD sufferer and a lot smarter than he pretends to be - that's according to his ex-girlfriend, at least.

She added: "He is also a self-proclaimed hypochondriac. He’d get a little cut and want to go to the doctors.

“He’d rush to the internet to self-diagnose about the slightest thing. He may be strong in the jungle now but when the food goes down I have a feeling he may crumble and I’m concerned for him.”

So far, Joey has proven to be pretty resilient in the jungle, laughing off trial after trial and spending most of his time with good friend (and fellow contestant) Amy Willerton, but Sam seems convinced that he will fall apart before the reality show is done.

“Everyone says I mothered him but Joey does need direction and anyone in that situation would want to look after him. He liked the fact I was more domineering.”

Joey's ex also hinted that Joey's ditziness is an act, insisting that he is not as stupid as everyone thinks:

“He is a lot brighter than everyone thinks. We won All Star Mr & Mrs so he’s not that silly.

"He is a lot brighter than everyone thinks"

“He’s always wanted his own adventure show. He would like to be a real-life action man, climbing and jumping all day long.”

Is Joey Essex REALLY putting on his ditziness?

Hmmmmmm...
