Since her bitter split from Eamonn Holmes last year, Ruth Langsford has been embracing her single era – but while the TV star is living her best life, a source tells Closer that her ex is beginning to doubt his choices.
The Loose Women star has enjoyed a string of wild nights out since announcing the end of her 14-year marriage to Eamonn. Last week, Ruth, 64, was spotted partying with close friends Rylan Clark, 36, and Lizzie Cundy, 56.
Meanwhile insiders say that Eamonn, 65 – who has moved on with girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43 – has been plagued with health issues and that ‘cracks are beginning to show’ in his new life.

Opening up about Eamonn’s relationship with Katie – who’s 22 years his junior – the insider reveals, ‘Ruth is thriving. She’s been throwing herself into work, having fun and definitely has a new spring in her step. She’s finally coming out the other side and wants the divorce to go through as quickly as possible.
‘But Eamonn’s not in a great way. He’s in a lot of pain with his health issues and it’s affected his whole demeanour – he’s not the happy, jolly guy from This Morning anymore. It’s making friends wonder if he’s regretting his decisions – in thinking that the grass is greener. He’ll never ever admit it but he left his lovely house and lovely life and now, underneath it all he’s probably thinking. “What the hell have I done?’’’
Once TV’s golden couple, hosting This Morning together for over a decade, fans were shocked when Eamonn and Ruth announced the end of their 27-year relationship last year. The couple began dating in 1996, tying the knot 14 years later and having son Jack, 22, together – with Ruth also becoming stepmum to the GB News presenter’s children from a previous marriage, Declan, 35, Rebecca, 32, and Niall, 30.
It didn’t take long for Eamonn to find love again, with it quickly coming to light that he’d begun dating relationship counsellor Katie Alexander. The divorced mum-of-three reportedly first crossed paths with Eamonn back in 2015 – exchanging messages on social media, before growing close after Eamonn’s split. The duo have made no secret of their blossoming romance, enjoying cosy Mediterranean cruises and star-studded award shows together.
As her ex flaunted his new romance, Ruth Langsford debuted a glam new look last year – including a chic new haircut and a stylish wardrobe. Her social life also boomed, having been spotted on several nights out with the likes of close pals Rylan and Lizzie, as well as Vanessa Feltz, 62, and Linda Robson, 66.
Opening up about Ruth’s glam new life, our source says, ‘She feels that keeping up appearances and staying busy is the only way to wash 14 years of marriage out of her hair. She’s loving her busy social life and has bought a whole new wardrobe, telling pals she feels back to her best. To a degree, she’s numbing the pain of her divorce by partying – enjoying late nights with the girls and lots of flirting. But at this point, she’s told friends it’s not about revenge, it’s about prioritising herself.’
Eamonn has struggled with his health in recent years, left using a wheelchair and walking aids following surgeries for his chronic back pain in 2022.
And the source adds that Eamonn’s relationship is also facing its struggles, saying, ‘His kids aren’t impressed with the attention his new relationship has been getting and think it’s disrespectful to Ruth. It’s all quite awkward but he’s taken it on board and reined it in. He’s taken a step back with Katie and kept a lower profile in a bid to avoid upsetting anyone.
‘Plus, at the moment they’re not together a great deal – Katie drives from her family home every Thursday and then stays with Eamonn until Monday. They’re house hunting at the moment too, as he hates the ground floor flat he’s renting and wants something more private. There’s a lot going on with that and, on top of his health issues, it hasn’t been a fun time for him.’
