The 37-year-old compared marriage to being a monk, and spoke about his battle with fidelity during his marriage to singer Katy Perry.

Speaking during his stand-up act at The Soho Theatre, he joked:

'When you're married, it's one person. That's one more than a monk. It's not that different', before cheekily adding:

'I'd be having sex thinking, "think of anyone, anyone else"'.

This latest dig is sure to enrage the 28-year-old Firework singer, who admitted during an interview in June, that their 14-month-marriage had started to go downhill when he used their problems as stand-up material.

‘(He was) hysterical in some ways. Until he started making jokes about me’, the American star said of British Brand.

'It's going to be hard if I go into a monogamous relationship'

Earlier this year Brand told a magazine that he had not yet reached the stage where he was ready to commit, explaining:

‘It's going to be hard if I go into a monogamous relationship [again]. I live a life where I have a lot of freedom, so if I meet someone and I go, “Right let's be monogamous,” that's a f****** change.’

The former couple split in December 2011.
